The Floating Storage and Offloading Unit (FSO) Safer Fundraising Campaign

The Resident Coordinator’s Office of the United Nations in Yemen

The United Nations Resident Coordinator’s Office (RCO) in Yemen initiated a critical fundraising campaign to mitigate an impending environmental disaster—the FSO Safer, a decaying oil tanker threatening to spill over a million barrels of crude into the Red Sea. Shaping the visuals of this high-stakes operation, the design of the FSO Safer Operational Plan and its accompanying advocacy materials followed a clean, minimalist aesthetic to avoid visual clutter and keep focus on the mission.

The cover design featured an abstract interpretation of ocean waves, blending deep blues, symbolizing the vulnerable marine ecosystem, with streaks of red as a warning of the oil spill threat.

To maximize outreach, the report was localized into Arabic, meticulously adapting right-to-left (RTL) layout. This involved reconfiguring typography hierarchies and realigning design components. Both versions maintained consistency ensuring policymakers and donors could engage with the content seamlessly. Full reports can be found here.
