Stopping polio in Yemen, one step at a time

The World Health Organization in Yemen

This human-interest story highlights Yemen's polio vaccination efforts through frontline health workers' experiences. Developed in English, it combined personal accounts of vaccinators traveling challenging routes with evidence-based data to showcase their impact. The narrative balanced human efforts with healthcare achievements, supported by short videos of workers and vaccination maps.

For the Arabic version, the story was adapted for cultural resonance while preserving technical accuracy. The layout was adjusted for right-to-left reading, and visuals were reordered to fit the organization’s website. These adaptations helped the story connect more deeply with Yemeni audiences while maintaining its core message of resilience and progress.

The story can be found here in English and Arabic.
